FAQ

Questions Answered
Choosing the BEST MILK or PLANT-BASED MILK alternative for your Simply Desserts.

Milk contains between 0g to 13g natural sugar. You can vary the sweetness of your pudding or dessert by what milk or milk alternatives you use.

2.5g of fat or higher is our recommendation to maximize taste, texture and color of your delicious pudding.

Pour 1 packet into 2 cups of milk or 1 1/4 cups of milk substitute. Beat the pudding mix & milk using a whisk for 1 minute and then switch to an electric beater for 3-5 minutes. If the milk begins to foam, stop mixing until foam subsides & then beat on slow for 2-3 minutes until desired texture.

Let product rest for 1 minute for best results.

For more information please see our Milk Mixing Guide.

Do I need to refrigerate the Jel and Pudding to set?

No they both set outside the fridge – The jel will set in 60mins and the pudding will set in 5 minutes. We do suggest once set to place in the fridge to keep cold and fresh.

Setting times at a glance

Dessert Time to set Fridge needed to set?
Simply Delish Instant Pudding (incl. Protein Pudding) About 5 minutes No. Chill after setting to serve cold and keep fresh
Simply Delish Jel Desserts About 60 minutes No. Chill after setting to serve cold and keep fresh
Traditional instant pudding mixes About 5 minutes, then chilling to serve cold Usually chilled to serve, and always refrigerated after
Cook-and-serve pudding Cooked first, then 2 to 3 hours chilling Yes, to fully set and cool
Regular gelatin desserts (jello) 2 to 4 hours Yes

How long is prepared pudding good for in the fridge?

Once pudding is made up with milk, treat it like any dairy dessert: cover it, refrigerate it within 2 hours of mixing, and eat it within 3 to 4 days. The dry, unopened mix is shelf-stable in the pantry until its best-by date.

Pudding setting and storage FAQ

How long does pudding take to set?

It depends on the type. Simply Delish instant puddings, including the protein pudding, set in about 5 minutes after whisking with cold milk, with no fridge needed. Traditional instant pudding takes about 5 minutes plus chilling to serve cold, and cook-and-serve pudding needs cooking followed by 2 to 3 hours in the fridge.

Does pudding need to be refrigerated to set?

Simply Delish pudding and jel both set at room temperature: the pudding in about 5 minutes and the jel in about 60. The fridge is for serving and storage rather than setting. Traditional cook-and-serve puddings and regular gelatin desserts do need refrigeration to set fully.

How long is instant pudding good for in the fridge?

Prepared instant pudding keeps for 3 to 4 days in the fridge in a covered container, the same guideline as other dairy desserts. Refrigerate it within 2 hours of making it. The dry mix itself is shelf-stable and lives happily in the pantry until its best-by date.

How long does jel take to set?

Simply Delish Jel Desserts set in about 60 minutes and do not need the fridge to do it, though chilling after setting keeps them cold and fresh. Regular gelatin-based jello is slower, typically needing 2 to 4 hours in the refrigerator to set fully.

Do your products contain SOY?

Our Jels and puddings do not contain any soy.

Does the product contain DAIRY?

Our desserts are 100% dairy-free and our manufacturing facility is audited by the Kosher body to confirm they are dairy-free & meat-free.

Does the product contain GLUTEN?

We’re PROUD to share that Simply Desserts is now officially certified gluten-free by Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), one of the most trusted gluten-free certifications in the world.

GFCO certification means our desserts meet strict standards for gluten content and manufacturing practices, not just ingredient swaps.

Does the product contain NUTS or could there be cross-contamination?

Simply Desserts products do not contain peanuts or tree nuts as ingredients. Our products are made in a facility that also processes tree nuts.

Our manufacturing facility follows strict regulations and product safety programs, including regular U.S. FDA-grade cleanings and allergen testing to prevent cross-contamination.

We have the following cleaning, sanitation & allergen measures in place to prevent cross-contamination:

  • Allergen ingredients are stored separately.
  • We use dedicated utensils and sieves for allergen lines.
  • We have cleaning and sanitation methods in place to ensure all areas are properly cleaned.
  • After cleaning and sanitation, machinery and surfaces are swabbed to check for any trace of allergens.
  • We run sample allergen tests to ensure that products are allergen-free.
Does the SODIUM come from the various ingredients or do we add salt in – if we add salt what salt do we use eg: table salt?

In the Jel, the salt content comes from the seaweed setting agent that we use. In the puddings, we use phosphate emulsifying salt which can be found in all instant pudding desserts and is derived from the phosphate rock in the earth. No table salt is used in our products.

Does your product contain dyes?

All our products are dye free. Simply Desserts uses only natural flavors & colors. All our natural flavors and colors are manufactured from actual fruits and vegetables in an FDA certified plant.

Foaming / Bubbles in Simply Desserts Pudding

Milk will foam when you beat milk with an electric beater, so we recommend mixing your pudding using a whisk or an electric beater at low speed until the bubbles disappear to create a smooth texture.

How do I prepare Simply Desserts Instant Puddings?

3 MINUTES FROM BEAT TO EAT …

Mixing Instructions:

1. Pour 2 cups of 2% milk or 1 ¼ cups of milk alternative* into a bowl, add mix.
2. With a whisk, mix gently until no dry powder is visible.
3. Using an electric mixer, beat on low for 2-3 minutes, or until desired texture is achieved. If the milk begins to foam, stop mixing until foam subsides and then beat again until desired texture.

Serving:

Pour into serving dish and place in fridge for 5 minutes for instant pudding. For the ultimate thick pudding, cover the dish and place in fridge overnight. After refrigeration, stir and eat with or without adding toppings.

Pudding will be smooth and creamy and ready to eat. Can be prepared with full cream/low fat/fat-free milk as well as milk substitutes (Soy, Almond, Coconut, or any Plant-Based milk). Delicious as a filling when mixed with cream/non-dairy cream.

This chocolate pudding tastes very much like the brand name box mix I grew up on. It's awesome that I can still enjoy chocolate pudding with less sugar and no funny aftertaste. It has a surprisingly light and airy consistency once prepared. I used 2% Lactaid milk.

These puddings are a Home Run, they are delicious! They have the BEST Flavor and if that wasn’t enough, they are healthy, NO Trans Fats like regular boxed pudding and they are plant-based with no added oil so “I” can eat them and enjoy them! I use them as a base in my Ninja™ CREAMi® and they make the BEST healthy Ice Cream! I plan to order another box soon! Thank you!!!!!

As Im getting older and trying to lose weight, Ive become more conscious of ingredients. I was using plain old pudding as an ingredient for ice cream in my Ninja™ CREAMi® until I realized the terrible ingredients in them. In my search for something better, I found Simply Delish and Im glad I did. Ive tried Chocolate, Banana, Vanilla and looking forward to trying Butterscotch. I can see a purchase of Lime gelatin in my future to make a WW Key Lime Pie I always make but now I can with cleaner ingredients. Who knew you could still have the delicious tastes without all the nasty ingredients. Thanks Simply Delish!
