Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: 5 August 2026

Simply Desserts is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone should be able to browse our products, find recipes and place an order independently.

This statement explains what we are doing to achieve that, where we know we still fall short, and how to reach us if you run into a problem.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. WCAG has three levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA.

simplydesserts.us is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to close the remaining gaps.

What We Have Done

  • Audited the site against WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA using industry-standard automated testing tools, across both desktop and mobile layouts.
  • Rebuilt our shopping cart controls so they can be reached and operated by keyboard alone, and so that screen readers announce them correctly.
  • Corrected our cart panel so that keyboard focus moves into it when it opens, stays within it while it is open, can be dismissed with the Escape key, and returns to where you were when it closes.
  • Added descriptive labels to navigation and cart icons that previously had none.
  • Increased text and button colour contrast on our email signup forms.
  • Reviewed our product and content images to confirm they carry meaningful alternative text.
  • Confirmed every page provides a skip to content link, a declared page language, and a logical heading structure.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. Below is what we currently know about, and what we are doing about it.

  • Third-party content. Some features are provided by external services, including our email signup forms, embedded video, and our payment and checkout provider. We do not control their code directly. We report accessibility defects to these providers and apply our own corrections where we can.
  • Checkout. Our checkout is currently undergoing additional manual testing with assistive technology. If you have any difficulty completing an order, please contact us and we will complete it with you by phone.
  • Older content. Some documents and images published before our current standards were adopted may not yet meet them. We are working through these.

If You Cannot Complete An Order

You do not need to struggle with the website to buy from us. If any part of the ordering process is not working for you, call our Customer Care team on (858) 455-6998 and we will take your order over the phone, apply any active promotions, and answer any product questions.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of simplydesserts.us. If you encounter a barrier, or need information in a different format, please tell us. Reports from people who use assistive technology are genuinely useful to us and we act on them.

Technical Information

  • HTML

  • WAI-ARIA

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Assessment Approach

Simply Desserts assessed the accessibility of this website by self-evaluation, carried out by our web development partner using automated accessibility testing tools alongside manual keyboard testing. We keep the results and re-test after significant changes to the site.

Enforcement

We take accessibility complaints seriously and aim to resolve them directly and quickly. If you contact us about an accessibility barrier and you are not satisfied with our response, please tell us so and we will escalate it internally for further review.
